2008
A home
In November of 2008, Larry and Rosana, along with three other families, had the very first meeting of The Refuge. They met in a home and, as they say, the rest is history.
How the room got here
A living room. A storefront. A renovated sanctuary — always making room for the people God kept sending.

2009
By February of 2009 the group had grown to the point of needing a larger meeting space, and so they rented a small storefront in the Morton Plaza shopping center in Denison, Texas. After a few months, additional space was needed in order to begin ministering to the children, so The Refuge expanded to an additional space next door.
2010
God began to send the hurting, lonely, addicted, and wounded of the community, and by the end of 2010 The Refuge was overflowing — not only with people, but also with the presence of God. Lives were being transformed and, once again, it was time to make a move.
2011
In May of 2011 a contract was signed with the property owner to begin renovating the original church building in order to house the ministry of The Refuge.
2012
On Easter Sunday, 2012, The Refuge conducted its first service in the current facility. God has been good to The Refuge and we are extremely blessed. Life has not always been fair to many of us who call this our home, but in Christ, we have found favor in spite of it all.
