Houston Elementary — home of the Bulldogs.
As many of you know, The Refuge has adopted Houston Elementary to bring a blessing to the staff and teachers who pour into our children daily. We have chosen to focus on the top down to bring a blessing to our children.
The first day of school, each teacher is presented with a large plastic drinking cup filled with goodies. Some of the little gifts are Post-it notes, clips, highlighters, chapstick, candy, and gum, along with an encouraging note of thanks and a promise of prayers for each one of them. Throughout the year, we celebrate their birthday month with a divided organizer gift box with special things to say thank you.
Not only do we pour into teachers and staff, we also host various projects throughout the year to benefit the children. As an ongoing part of helping Houston Elementary, we collect Box Tops, Coke product lids, and Community Coffee proof-of-purchase decals. These can be placed in the foyer in the basket on the welcome desk to help raise funds for the school. We also have things like clothes drives and school supply opportunities.
